Limerence takes us via the Indian Ocean to the tropical grasslands of Sri Lanka – heady skies are the exotic backdrop to the lush palms and oil painted shadows, and are used as a sublime effect in this masterpiece. I can’t decide which colour I like best, Ink is the one above and it probably inspires me the most when dreaming up dark and sultry interiors, but then Fern, below, is just wonderful for an elegant appartment featuring soft greys and whites and absolutely no muddy dogs.

Sky, below,  is quite perfect for a country house, bringing the outdoors in with the yellowish greens and offering a hint of sunshine on even the dullest of days.  Think antique wooden floors and reclaimed stone hearths, lots of wellies and the smell of log fires burning in the winter.

Tobacco, below, is of course for the Gentleman’s Study, the very private bolthole with lots of wood, dark squashy velvet sofas, a lingering smell of cigar smoke, a half drunk bottle of port, a couple of black labradors snoozing by the fire and an air of deep relaxation.

And there has to be one for the very girlie Girl and here she is, Quartz Pink, what else!  Imagine a  boudoir with deep aubergine chalky walls, a chaise longue in amber velvet and some twinkling candles dotted around, or a fresh room with pale pink carpets and soft white walls.  A space to umwind from the rigours of the day with just one more glass of bubbles.

The sumptuous British velvet made by House of Hackney is crafted on a loom by weaving two pieces of the finest quality cotton face-to-face, then cutting them apart to reveal the pile, thus creating a lavishly soft finish that is resilient to everyday wear-and-tear. Suitable for curtains and blinds, furniture and soft furnishings the velvets stand apart from most on the market and look pretty damn gorgeous once installed!

All of the above can be purchased through the shop here in Winchester, so if your’e thinking of a revamp of just one room or a whole interior design project, even perhaps a cushion or two, then please give me a call on 01962 853882 or email me on jane@odettel22.sg-host.com
