My daughter and partner purchased a small terraced house in Southsea, Portsmouth at the beginning of March and we contacted Jane to help refurbish and redecorate. However not too much, apart from an initial site visit, had been done before lockdown struck and so many firms and businesses had to close or work at a slower pace. Jane though was undaunted and really helped with all kinds of suggestions and encouragement when my daughter faltered slightly and, eventually, as places re-opened the project managed to keep going and we now have a delightful property. I was particularly impressed by her ability to design for small space living and on a lowish budget and she had some very ingenious ideas. It would have been wonderful to use her talents fully though should we have been able to afford something like a small manor house or a large London flat – we shall keep it in mind! Also, when we very unwisely decided ourselves to go ahead with some basic garden design thinking it could not go wrong it, of course, did and I am so grateful to Jane for offering to step in and try and help us sort it out. Jane was totally professional at all times and is so knowledgeable about every aspect of design from building works to furniture and fabrics. I would not hesitate to recommend her for any project.

Downsizing into unfamiliar territory? Jane McIntyre was perfect for transition from a 7 bedroom family home to a small 3 bed apartment in a Grade 2 listed building. She introduced us to all the necessary trades, helped with colours, fabrics, furniture and trimmings. Her greatest virtue was patience whilst we agonised over what to keep and what to go. Final touches involved the placing of numerous paintings and ongoing advice on lighting. She was quick to respond to our enquiries and met all our deadlines.

Jane has recently designed and project managed the conversion of a very old poor quality shower room in to a very stylish, simple wet room. Jane understood immediately what we wanted and got it exactly right. At each stage she discussed her plans to ensure our ideas were synthesised. She then ordered all the equipment and commissioned the builders. It was all hassle free and we are delighted with the end result. We are now planning our kitchen and will use Jane’s services again.

I have used Jane’s services over the past 2 years and I have to say I couldn’t wish for a better professional in her field. Jane is not only such a lovely person, but she is a true ambassador of her brand. She is very patient, full of innovative and practical ideas, nothing is too much for her, replies to emails very fast, gives her own honest opinion that I appreciated very much. She takes good care of her clients at all times and earned my trust quickly. She has a refined taste for design and does not give only advice on how things would look together the best, but she gives honest opinion also whether they would be practical. She goes the extra mile into researching alternatives and would not stop until her client is satisfied. I would recommend Jane to anyone who wants to have a beautiful and practical home full of harmony. She is simply amazing and I will definitely use her services again!

Jane has a fabulous, intriguing and completely inspiring eye for design and detail – so much so, I often find myself staring at the walls thinking, “what would Jane do”. I trust her judgment, experience and style completely – and have appreciated her help and guidance with colours, fabric and lighting – always asking the right questions and provoking the appropriate response, encouraging me to go bigger and bolder. She’s sympathetic to budgets and has an enviable source of suppliers at her fingertips. Jane’s lovely to work with – warm, graceful, imaginative – all of which are reflected in her elegant style and flair for, frankly, all things fabulous…

“Winchester has been sadly lacking in opportunities to purchase imaginative and unique home wares until the advent of Jane McIntyre’s design and eccentricities shop. Previously I would have scoured the South of England for unique items but my first stop shop is now Jane McIntyre. I never leave without purchasing something, whether it be a present for a friend (and one for me), furniture, lighting and beautiful linen bed linen, much approved of by my two border terriers! The Bella Notte linen actually seems to improve with age. In addition to the choice of items available, I have experienced Jane McIntyre to be inspirational and dedicated to providing exceptional service, however busy. The stock within the shop is forever changing and most definitely warrants a weekly visit at least. Beware though, you will not leave empty handed”.

Jane was marvellous at helping to redesign our decor. She was excellent at listening to what we wanted and then providing us with lots of options, but also her clear recommended route. We now have a house that is cosy and just what we were looking for. Would definitely recommend.

Jane has a wonderful eye for detail! I asked jane to help me avoid the ‘perfect’ studied interior look. I wanted my home to reflect my personality. Her designs for me included adding layers of colour and texture to the brief as a whole, so that the end result is that wonderfully warm and ‘lived in’ look that I asked for.

Jane McIntyre* designed the set and costumes for my play Popcorn at the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End. She did an exquisite job creating the sumptuous world of a super hip Film Director while delivering an efficient working theatrical design which served the fast moving nature of the play. She lovingly guided her creation through work shop, instillation, technical rehearsal and beyond. She was also on time and on budget (which is not as common a quality as you’d think). The play ran for eighteen months and won the Olivier Award for Best Comedy, an accolade which was helped in no small way by Jane’s design.

*Jane did this under her maiden name Clough.

I handed over the keys to my newly purchased but almost derelict house (and my cheque book!) to Jane and returned 6 months later to find a house that was the envy of the neighbourhood and money still in my bank account! It was a pleasure, I was totally involved but had none of the day to day stresses and strains.
